INTERVIEW
pollentia x yachting ventures
In an exciting recent interview with Eugene Ohotnikov., our founders, Tyler Temple and Ivan Shterev, gave an inside look into Pollentia’s journey, our vision for sustainable boating, and the pioneering technology that drives our flagship model, Ventus. This conversation opened a window into the minds behind Pollentia, their backgrounds, and the mission that shapes our electric boat company.
From Inspiration to Innovation
The journey started with Tyler’s unique background in the Navy, where he gained hands-on experience in damage control and nuclear energy management. Reflecting on his service, Tyler discussed the teamwork required to operate a vessel with a large crew and wondered how he could bring that same security, efficiency, and technological support to a single-operator electric boat. This inspired the development of Ventus—a vessel that combines AI-powered assistance, collision avoidance, and real-time damage diagnostics to make boating safer, more efficient, and accessible for everyone, from new sailors to experienced captains.
For Ivan, a lifelong passion for engineering and sustainable energy aligned perfectly with Pollentia’s mission. With a career focused on innovative energy solutions—from wind and solar projects to advancements in electric transportation—he saw Pollentia as an opportunity to bring his expertise to the marine industry. Ivan shared how Pollentia aims to set new standards for energy efficiency and environmental responsibility by integrating smart energy storage, propulsion systems, and AI-enhanced systems.
A Vision for the Future of Marine Travel
Tyler and Ivan discussed their vision to create an eco-friendly, intelligent vessel that goes beyond the electric-only approach of many competitors. Ventus combines electric propulsion with an AI "Co-Captain" designed to assist users with navigation, offer collision avoidance, and provide real-time diagnostics. Ivan explained how Ventus is not just electric but also a “smart” boat, learning from each journey to optimize routes, enhance safety, and reduce energy consumption. While they remained somewhat mysterious about future developments, Tyler and Ivan hinted at exciting plans for expanding the Ventus line, including the introduction of new model variants tailored to different boating lifestyles. They also shared Pollentia’s goal of creating a network of fast-charging stations across marinas and coastal areas, emphasizing renewable energy sources like solar and wind to power these stations. Ivan highlighted that the fast-charging network will ensure quick and convenient charging for Pollentia’s boats and other electric marine vessels.
An Enthusiastic Reception and the Road Ahead
Tyler noted the overwhelmingly positive feedback they’ve received from both the boating community and investors. They’re already seeing interest from future owners and industry partners, eager to be part of Pollentia’s movement toward greener, smarter marine travel. The founders also spoke about Pollentia’s roadmap, with plans to complete the prototype by late next year and move toward full production in the coming years. As Tyler and Ivan emphasized, Pollentia isn’t just a boat company—it’s a movement to lead the marine industry into a new era of sustainability, luxury, and innovation. “We’re pioneering the next wave of innovation,” said Tyler, “not just to change the future, but to create it.”
